Justice

Typically Cara's handfastings directly acknowledge three social justice issues; indigenous rights, gender equity and marriage equality.
- Indigenous rights are addressed in the ceremony through the inclusion of an "Acknowledgement of Country" that mentions the local traditional owners and offers respect to Elders past and present.
- A gender equity approach is woven throughout ceremonies, specifically through the use of non sexist language. Particular attention is paid the needs and desires of both parties to the marriage when crafting and delivering the ceremony.
- As same sex marriage is now available in Australia many couples are able to find ways to have all their family and friends made to feel included and comfortable at their wedding. Cara also uses language and symbols that speak to diversity and inclusiveness.
- Cara offers her support to low income couples in two ways. She is happy to assist them to manage their wedding expenses by establishing a payment plan for celebrants fees. This will enable couples to set a budget with smaller predictable payments. Couples who have a health care card are eligible for a 5% discount on her fee.
Green issues
Environmental degradation is an issue that disproportionately impacts those with the least resources to address it and adversely affects many aspects of their lives, none more than health. To minimize environmental impact Cara uses electronic documents as far as possible, recycles and reuses ceremonial materials and reduces activities that contribute to carbon pollution. Many couples chose to be handfasted in places of outstanding natural beauty, Cara takes all necessary step to leave sites in the same or better condition than she finds them.
